Atlas Tower Kenya

Based in Kenya, Atlas Tower Kenya owns and operates more than 450 telecom towers nationwide, providing critical digital infrastructure that enables mobile network operators to deliver reliable and ubiquitous connectivity. STOA became a shareholder in 2025 with the aim to accelerate the roll-out of new towers and support the expansion of sustainable digital infrastructure across Africa.

Challenges

Despite the rapid growth of telecommunications, reliable mobile connectivity remains a challenge in Kenya, especially in rural and peri-urban areas. Population growth and increasing mobile data use continue to widen the digital gap, limiting access to public services and online education, and therefore hindering social inclusion and local economic development.

Furthermore, telecom tower operations involve certain issues when it comes to energy supply and reliability of the grid, often forcing operators to use diesel generators to ensure tower uptime.

The Project

A fast-growing company in a dynamic market, Atlas Tower Kenya is one of Kenya’s leading independent telecom tower operators, with over 450 sites deployed nationwide. To meet growing demand and improve mobile coverage, the company is expanding its network to reach underserved areas and support broader access to digital services.

STOA’s support will enable Atlas Tower Kenya to scale its infrastructure and accelerate its energy transition through solar and battery solutions. This will help deliver more reliable, affordable connectivity across the country while improving the company’s environmental performance.

STOA’s investment underscores the fundamental value of Atlas Tower Kenya and provides the necessary resources to accelerate asset growth while continuing our mission of quality, efficiency, and positive impact. Partnering with STOA will help further un-leash our speed strategy while leaning in on more efficient green power production. This partnership will help ensure we continue as the #1 infrastructure choice for our clients.

Nathan Foster, CEO

This is a landmark moment for Atlas Tower Kenya. With STOA's backing, we will scale our tower portfolio, strengthen the sustainability of our operations, improve power generation, and reach more communities with critical wireless infrastructure. Our focus remains on delivering best in class service ta customers white helping to ensure equitable wireless access ta all users in Kenya.
